Pyhäjärvi’s Callio is developing the Pyhäsalmi mining area as a business park.
Our operating environment includes the area located 1445 meters below the surface of the earth in the Pyhäsalmi mine and the land area above it.
Callio’s facilities are the deepest known places in Europe. The uniqueness of the operating environment gives a valuable competitive advantage to already established companies located there as well as to new innovative research and product development actors.
We are already working on cooperation and test arrangements, for example, pumping power and solar energy solutions, developing and testing mining machines and equipment, underground occupational safety training, and developing business opportunities related to the circular economy.
