AkkuSer Oy operating in Nivala receives and sorts all used portable batteries collected in Finland in its production facility. In addition, high-cobalt lithium-ion batteries are imported from several European countries.About 90 percent of the material is mechanically processed at Akkuser into recycled raw materials, and the rest is delivered to other suitable processing plants.
AkkuSer Oy currently receives approximately 2,500 tons of battery and battery waste annually, including approximately 500–700 tons of lithium ion batteries. The amount of battery and battery waste received is constantly increasing. This opens up cooperation opportunities for new players, either in the reuse of battery materials or in the utilization of raw materials obtained through sorting and mechanical processing.
